TEA PARTY of WEST MICHIGAN CORE PRINCIPLES
These are the positions which we encourage government officials to actively and vocally take as they protect and defend the original meaning of our founding documents.
1. To preserve the economic future for our children.
2. To work for a return to the principles of our governing constitution.
3. To demand limited government.
4. To promote the free market that made our country the leader of the world.
5. To give support for individual rights, and property rights.
6. To provide a platform for giving like-minded people a voice.

A NOTE ABOUT OUR BLOGS AND FORUMS. THEY ARE OPEN FOR ANYONE TO POST ANYTHING AS LONG AS IT FALLS WITHIN OUR WEBSITE CODE OF CONDUCT WHICH YOU WILL FIND ON THE RIGHT SIDE COLUMN OF THIS PAGE. THESE ARE JUST ONE PERSON'S OPINION AND NOT NECESSARILY THE POSITION OR SANCTIONED BY TEA PARTY OF WEST MICHIGAN. WE WANT TO GIVE AS MUCH FREEDOM AS POSSIBLE TO THOSE TWO AREAS OF THE MAIN PAGE!

A little instruction about how to use our site. Any wording on our site in BLUE and underlined usually means it is a "click-able" link either to another place on our site or another site altogether. At the top of any page on our site you can click on the RED titles like (Groups or Events) to open up more pages on our site. For instance under Events you will see a list of Events like our meetings, candidate forums etc. in date order. If you find and Event that interests you and the title is Blue and when you roll your mouse pointer over it it changes (goes from BLUE TO RED) that means it is a live button and if you click on it you will open up that event. Many things on our site work this way. If you don't see enough information on something, see if it will open up further. This confuses a lot of people. It's just how our site works. The information is there but sometimes it's a little hard to find.

Reading List
This is my personal favorites reading list. I will be adding more. But this is a start. I think the order they are in is a good one or at least it was for me except the fiction are good at anytime. I've put them here because the authors seem to be on our Tea Party wave length or in the case of Ayn Rand she was ahead of us. -- Tina
The 5000 Year Leap, Principles of Freedom 101. Skousen published by National Center for Constitutional Studies. (I have soft cover copies of this book for $10 which is what I paid for them).
The Law, The Classic Blueprint for a Free Society,Frederic Bastiat (I'm sure the American Opinion Bookstore has this one)
The Road to Serfdom,Text and Documents, The Definitive Edition, F.A. Hayek. (I believe they may sell this at the American Opinion Bookstore along with other major bookstores)
The Federalist Papers and the Anti-Federalist Papers,(There are many different editions out there and I know the American Opinion Bookstore and others will carry this)
Atlus Shrugged,Ayn Rand (fiction)
The Hunger Games,Suzanne Collins (fiction) coming out this March in theaters.

A win for the Tea Parties in Michigan and a win for Michigan.
It's not over yet but it's a big nail in the coffin. Hopefully it will give the Supreme Court yet another reason to find ObamaCare unconstitutional. As more and more states refuse to write the Exchanges that have to be written according to ObamaCare, the more we'll show that we mean business and that this bill is unconstitutional. If the Supreme Court still does not find it so we need to move to nullify it.

Here are a few resources for MI residents that I thought might be of interest:
1) You can find out if someone has given any money to a politician, a candidate or PAC by going to this link and the "Search by Contributions Analysis" link - you can search by last name at the bottom (that can tell you something about a political persuasion of a person); by zip codes (to find people who may agree - or disagree with you in your area) by putting just zip codes in; find out who has given to a candidate, by putting the candidate committee number in, etc. you can also download the lists by checking off the "spreadsheet format"

2) You can find out who owns MI companies and other organizations here:
http://www.dleg.state.mi.us/bcs_corp/sr_corp.asp
3) You can find out who has contracts with the state of MI here (and can download in excel):
http://www.michigan.gov/buymichiganfirst
4) You can find any bill in the legislature here, along with links to the State House and Senate websites to find out info on legislators and committees here - as well as links through those websites to live streaming of committee meetings:

Feel free to ask questions about how to use these links in the "comments" section, and I'll try to answer them.
